Bangladesh Cricket now wants to rebuild its cricketing relationship with India after pulling out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The team withdrew when officials rejected their request to change the venue of their matches.

Board members and players have stressed the need for strong bilateral ties between the two countries. The decision to skip the major tournament triggered internal discussions within the Bangladesh Cricket Board BCB about their relations with South Asian countries. cBoard members consider the 2026 World Cup absence to be an unfortunate setback while they work on building a positive and practical approach.

Aminul Haque who became Bangladesh's State Minister for Youth and Sports made a public statement about the problem. He said that his main focus at work should be building better relationships with nearby countries.

Haque commented: "After attending the oath-taking ceremony today, I met with the Deputy High Commissioner of India at the Parliament building. I discussed this matter (T20 World Cup issue) with him. He was very friendly, and I also spoke to him in a friendly manner. I told him that we want to resolve this issue quickly through discussions because we want to maintain friendly relations with all our neighboring countries.”
