Salman Khan's father Salim Khan has been admitted to the ICU at the Lilavati hospital in Mumbai. The screenwriter reportedly suffered breathing issues and was brought to the hospital on Tuesday.

Now, the management at the hospital has given an official statement and update on the health of the legendary star.

Salim Khan health update

The hospital gave a statement that Salim Khan was brought in at 8.30 am in the morning and has undergone surgery. He is currently in the ICU, and more details will be out soon.

The statement read, “Yes, it’s true that Mr Salim Khan (father of famed Bollywood actor Salman Khan) & an icon in himself has been admitted to Lilavati Hospital under Dr Jalil Parkar in the ICU early morning at 8.30am. He was brought into the emergency by their family doctor Dr Sandeep Chopra. Emergency care was initiated in the emergency & Mr Salim Khan was shifted to the intensive care on the 1st floor. A team of doctors consisting of Dr Vinay Chavan (neurologist), Dr Ajit Menon (cardiologist), Dr Nitin Dange (neurosurgeon) & Dr Bineet Ahluwalia attended on him.”

The statement continued, “Respecting the relatives request further details ain’t being shared today. However tomorrow at 11 am, we shall be addressing a press bulletin with due consent of the relatives & maintaining the confidentiality of the patient to the utmost. Kindly bear with us. He is stable but is under close observation in regards to his clinical status.”

Salim Khan’s family, friends visit him at hospital

Many of Salim Khan's family including Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Arhaan and Nirvaan were seen visiting him in the hospital. Salim Khan's industry friends including Javed Akhtar, Sanjay Dutt and Amrita Arora were seen paying him a visit.

Javed and Salim share a great bond. The duo rose to fame together when they wrote blockbusters like Deewar, Agneepath and Sholay, among others.

Salim Khan is not only a great screenwriter but also the patriarch of the Khan family. Salim Khan first married Salma Khan (born Sushila Charak) in 1964. They have four children Salman Khan, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan and Alvira Khan Agnihotri.
