Home fragrance really changes the entire atmosphere. Not only cleanliness, freshness of air is also equally important. No matter how clean the house is, if there is bad smell or heaviness in the air, the whole atmosphere gets spoiled. Kitchen smoke, wet clothes, dampness of closed rooms and less ventilation often cause bad smell in the house. Below are some easy, natural and safe solutions that will keep your house smelling fresh and relaxing throughout the day.
Open windows for at least 20–30 minutes every morning. Fresh air removes odor and dampness. If possible, keep cross-ventilation (open the window on one side and the door on the other side).
Place baking soda in a bowl – it absorbs odors. Keep lemon slices in the fridge or kitchen. Put some baking soda in the dustbin.
Add 1 cup water, 1 teaspoon rose water, 5–10 drops of any essential oil (lavender, lemon, eucalyptus) in a spray bottle. Shake lightly and spray in the room.
Some plants also clean the air and give off a mild fragrance. Aloe vera, Areca palm, Snake plant, these plants are considered helpful in improving the quality of air.
Boil cinnamon or cloves with water in a vessel. A natural and warm fragrance will spread in the house. If you want, you can also heat some coffee powder.
Do not dry wet towels or clothes in the room. Make sure to run the exhaust fan in the bathroom. Keep camphor or silica packets in the cupboard.
Soy wax candles are a better alternative to chemical fresheners—less smoke and a more natural scent.
