New Delhi: Nearly a month after losing his son in a tragic accident, Yuvraj Mehta’s father has left India for London, still waiting for the system to deliver answers. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) was appointed by the Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the incident to investigate the administrative negligence and was directed to submit the report within five days. The report was submitted to the government after nearly 20 days, but it has not been released yet, leaving the family in uncertainty.

Yuvraj Mehta was a software engineer who died after his car fell into a water-filled pit dug for a basement at a construction site. The incident triggered outrage in the area, with residents questioning how such an open and dangerous spot was left unattended.

Yuvraj’s father was totally devastated after his son’s untimely death. He was already living alone as his wife had separated from him earlier. What happened that night

On the night of January 16, Yuvraj’s car reportedly went out of control, broke through a drain wall and plunged into a waterlogged plot dug for basement construction. After which police, fire department, SDRF and NDRF teams launched a rescue operation that lasted nearly five hours before his body was recovered.

Local residents have raised concerns about safety measures at the site and alleged negligence by the concerned authorities.

Questions over accountability

Two days after the incident, the authority’s CEO was removed from his post and action was taken against a few officials. However, with the SIT report still not public, questions remain about who is accountable for the techie’s death.

Yuvraj’s death remains a topic of discussion in the city with people blaming administrative lapses as the reason. While the administration maintains that action will follow after the investigation is completed, the family’s wait for clarity goes on.
