The BBC has announced that the Winter Olympics women's snowboard slopestyle final and the first and second rounds of men's and women's aerials qualification are postponed due to heavy snow at the Livigno Snow Park. A decision from the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) has followed athletes being unable to complete practice runs.

New dates and times have yet to be announced, but it is said the events will now take place a day later on Wednesday, with the BBC saying more information on matters is due at 4pm. Fitting these runs into an already stacked schedule will cause chaos for athletes and organisers alike, with just five days of competition remaining before Sunday's closing ceremony at Verona Arena.

Hazel Irving confirmed:"If you are just tuning in and you were expecting to see the women's snowboard slopestyle final, I'm afraid it is off. Now, this is the scene in Livigno; there has been a real dump of snow there. Fantastic for powder skiing, but not great if you are either a snowboarder or indeed an aerials athlete.

"Now the men's and women's aerials were due to go off, the women's this morning, but it's not happening. Definitely not happening, those events are cancelled until tomorrow, and I'm afraid the women's slopestyle final, which we were very much looking forward to, is not happening either, so it looks like tomorrow is going to be an extremely busy day."

The Olympics also shared updates, saying: "Due to heavy snowfall at the Livigno Snow Park, the first round of women's aerials qualification has been delayed." It was originally scheduled for 9:45am, then delayed to 10:15am, then not before 10:30am, then 11am, and again to 12:45pm.

A final update said: "Weather conditions have forced the postponement of the first and second rounds of men's and women's aerials qualification at the Livigno Snow Park. A new date and time are yet to be announced."

As for the snowboarding, they said: "Today's women's slopestyle finals postponed due to unfavourable weather conditions. The women's field will await an update on the rescheduled slopestyle finals as snow continues to fall at Livigno Snow Park. Top qualifier Zoi Sadowski Synnott is headed out for some freeriding."

TNT Sports' on-site reporter Lutalo Muhammad also shared an update about what Team GB's Mia Brookes, who did not qualify for the final, was doing with her day. The retired Team GB taekwondo athlete said: "I think there's only one person in the world who's currently happy about this weather and the delay, and that's Great Britain's Mia Brookes.

"We bumped into her on our way in, and she said, 'You know what, LT, had I made the final, I'd miss out on these silky slopes.' So she's flying down on this pillowy snow, and I'm actually awfully jealous, so great to see her in good spirits; she was with her mum and dad."

TNT Sports presenter Orla Chennaoui said in response: "I love to hear Mia Brookes' positive spin on this. She has been an absolute breath of fresh air these Games; somehow, she manages to turn every bit of adversity into a positive."
