NFL star Jonathan Owens has described the moment he came face-to-face with a robber while shopping during the current Winter Olympics. The 30-year-old is married to seven-time Summer Olympics gold medalist Simone Biles, with the couple attending the winter games in Milan.
Chicago Bears safety Owens and Gymnnastics star Biles, 28, have been seen at events in Italy, including Friday's men's figure skating final. Both have also been taking some downtime away from the sporting action which ends with a closing ceremony on Sunday in Verona.
And Owens posted on X on Sunday that someone had tried to steal his shopping bag while he was in Milan. The American revealed he had managed to hold on to his belongings before the thief ran away.
He said: "Not somebody just tried to snatch my shopping bag in Milan. Force of habit I had it tied around my hand so he couldn't get it and took off running immediately....but still crazy".

Owens went on to explain in a further post the thief's reaction once he realised the attempted theft had failed. He added: "Not fast at all bro, his arms were moving faster than his legs lol Should've seen his face once he realised I turned around and he couldn't grab it."
Owens and Biles watched American skating star Ilia Malinin endure a disastrous free skate final last week. The 21-year-old was widely tipped for gold but fell twice during his routine before finishing outside of the medal positions with an eighth-placed finish.
Meanwhile, Biles expressed uncertainty to L'Equipe in April last year about her participation in the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028. For the time being, the most decorated gymnast in history is focusing on other priorities and on her body's needs.

She said: "I'm really trying to enjoy life, to spend time with my husband, go support him at his games, and live my life as a woman.
"I've accomplished so much in my sport. For me to come back, it would really have to excite me."
"Whether on the apparatus or in the stands, I still don't know that. But 2028 seems so far away, and my body is ageing. I felt it in Paris."
Biles won three gold medals and a silver at the Paris Olympics. The American gymnast has 11 Olympic medals overall and is widely regarded as the sport's greatest-ever athlete.
