According to Indian time, the solar eclipse will start at 03:27 pm on Tuesday, February 17 and will last till 07:58 am on Wednesday, February 18. But its Sutak period will start from 03.27 pm itself, which will end with the eclipse. During the middle period of the eclipse, the Sun will appear like a glowing ring, hence this eclipse will be called Ring of Fire.

What to do after the solar eclipse ends?

1. After the solar eclipse ends, first take bath and wear other clothes.
2. Clean your house, if possible wash with water.
3. Clean the temple of your house thoroughly. Wash the idols and pictures of God with water.
4. Donate food, grains, money, clothes etc. to the needy.
5. Worship God, light a lamp, if possible chant mantras.
6. Those who wear sacred thread should take off their old sacred thread and wear a new sacred thread.
7. After the eclipse ends, feed fodder to the cow.
8. If Durva or Tulsi leaves are not added to the food kept at home, then throw it away and make fresh food.
9. By chanting the mantras of Rahu-Ketu, one can avoid the inauspicious results of eclipse.
10. If a beggar comes to your home seeking food etc., do not return him empty handed. Give him something as per your wish.
