New Delhi. It is very important to have a correct sleeping pattern for the health of body and mind. Due to poor sleep, people are becoming victims of depression, anxiety and obesity. Therefore, a recent study has found out the reasons for people’s poor sleep at night, which include many important things like stress, money worries and room temperature not being right.

According to a study conducted on 2000 people, about 38 percent people are not able to get enough sleep due to uncomfortable mattress (bed). Whereas 36 percent people have lost their sleep due to their partner’s snoring. Often, some habits like traffic noise, light coming from the window and drinking caffeinated drinks are also responsible for losing sleep of a person.

Apart from this, the sleeping pattern of many people is also being disturbed by phone light. People who use social media (14%), play games (12%) and read (13%) on their phones before sleeping have seen its adverse effect on their sleep. According to this research conducted by furniture retailer DFS, on average adults reported that they need about four hours of extra sleep every night to compensate for this bad habit.

Dr. David Lee, clinical director of ‘Sleep Unlimited’ and author of ‘Teaching the World to Sleep’, said, ‘We have seen big changes in people’s routines as a result of the pandemic, so it is not surprising that many people are struggling to maintain a good bedtime routine.’

Experts are of the opinion that people suffering from lack of sleep need to rearrange their bedroom. Find another place in the house to get ready for office, study or use an electrical device. After some time, you will start understanding that the bedroom space is only for sleeping and after entering there, you will do only this work.

It is no surprise that our mattress or pillow also has a bad effect on the quality of sleep. Besides, the emotional or physical environment in or around the house also affects it. So make sure you have a comfortable bed and a good routine for good quality sleep.

    Reasons for restlessness at night
In this study, all those reasons have been considered which can be responsible for spoiling our sleep at night. These include things like stress, temperature, comfortable bed or pillow, money worries, too much light, caffeinated drinks, workplace worries including traffic noise, alcohol consumption, use of mobile phone and having dinner shortly before bed.

However, one in five people said that their sleeping quality has improved since March 2020. About 28 percent of these people said that now they are taking out more time for rest in the evening. ‘Working from home’ has also helped about 27 percent of people working from home to get better sleep.
