According to scholars, the solar eclipse occurring on Tuesday, February 17 will not be visible in India, hence none of its rules like Sutak etc. will be valid here. That means it will not be considered Sutak in India. In the countries where this solar eclipse will be visible, it will be considered Sutak only there.

What is Sutak period?

According to scholars, Sutak is an inauspicious time which starts 12 hours before the solar eclipse. If seen in a way, the effect of solar eclipse on common people's life starts 12 hours before, this is called Sutak. During this period, it is prohibited to do some specific work otherwise one has to face problems related to it later.

When will the sutak of solar eclipse start?

According to Indian time, on Tuesday, February 17, the solar eclipse will start at 03:27 pm and will last till 07:58 am. But its solar eclipse will start from 03.27 pm only. Its sutak will be visible only in the countries where this eclipse will be seen.

What things should not be done in Sutak?

1. One should neither sleep nor eat or drink anything during Sutak.
2. The idols of God should be covered before the Sutak begins.
3. One should not have company with a woman during Sutak, it is considered a great sin.
4. Worshiping God is also prohibited during Sutak.
5. Pregnant women should not leave the house during Sutak.
