Mahoba. In Mahoba district of UP, a water tank built under Jal Jeevan Mission burst just a day after testing. On this, SP National President Akhilesh Yadav has taken a jibe on social media, accusing the BJP government of corruption. He said, “Even the water tank could not bear the burden of corruption. Now the question arises that who is ultimately responsible in the schemes worth crores? What investigation will be done? And will action be taken against the culprits? At present, after this incident, big questions have been raised on the departmental functioning.

Akhilesh Yadav wrote on X that falling tank news: February 2026. The water tank could not bear the burden of BJP’s corruption in Mahoba. Yadav said that bulldozers will not work here because the pipeline of corruption from Mahoba to Lucknow is supplying money instead of water supply. This is not a ‘water mission’, it is a ‘commission-mission’. If BJP goes, we will get water.

Gayatri, head of Gram Panchayat Nagaradang of development block Jaitpur, said that under the Dhavarra Sijwaha Village Group Drinking Water Scheme of about Rs 26151 lakh of Jal Jeevan Mission, the construction of a water tank was completed in the village in 2025 to provide water to every household. The executing agency SCLSMCJV built the tank at a cost of about Rs 65 lakh. After its construction, it was filled with water on 13 February.

On the evening of 14 February, the water tank burst (cracked) at some places. Due to which thousands of liters of water is getting wasted. Pradhan says that government funds were misused and the construction of the tank was done arbitrarily. He has demanded an investigation and action against the culprits. Anger is also being seen among the villagers regarding this.

I want that there should be better work on the ground and water should reach all the houses under the Har Ghar Nal Yojana. I have also seen the video of the tank cracking. Action should be taken against whoever is guilty in this.
