New Delhi:Hindi cinema’s popular actor Rajpal Yadav is in the headlines these days, not for his laughter but for his legal troubles. He has outstanding debt of crores of rupees in years old check bounce case and due to this he has to face the court. At present, the hearing on his interim bail petition is going on, on which the court has adopted a strict stance.

Giving relief to Rajpal Yadav, Delhi High Court has clearly said that if a demand draft of Rs 1.5 crore is deposited by 3 pm, he can get interim bail. If the amount is not deposited within the stipulated time, the next hearing will be held on February 17. Let us tell you that Rajpal has applied for bail to attend his niece’s wedding on 19th February.

Court’s strictness in last hearing

During the last hearing, the court had severely reprimanded the actor. The court said that he was given several chances to repay the loan, but he did not pay. The court also said that when he himself has admitted to taking the loan, then how can he demand cancellation of the sentence.

The court clarified that he is in jail not because of the court’s order, but because of not fulfilling his responsibilities. His lawyer argued that an amount of more than Rs 3 crore has already been paid and now about Rs 2.10 crore is left.

What is the whole matter?

This case is to the 2012 film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’, which was directed by Rajpal Yadav himself. For this film he had borrowed Rs 5 crore from Murali Projects Private Limited. However, the film was not successful at the box office, causing huge losses.

Due to his inability to repay the loan, the matter reached the court. The company took legal action in 2018. Including interest, this amount has increased to approximately Rs 9 crore. In this matter, a case was registered against Rajpal and his wife. He has been jailed twice before and had to surrender after failing to pay despite several chances.

Many people from the film industry have supported him in this difficult time. Many names including Salman Khan, Ajay Devgan, Varun Dhawan, David Dhawan, Sonu Sood, Mika Singh have come forward who offered help. Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has also appealed to the people for cooperation. Rajpal Yadav’s wife has expressed gratitude to everyone.
