New Delhi, February 16: The social media platform ‘X’, formerly known as Twitter, experienced a sudden outage on Monday evening around 7 PM, causing significant inconvenience for users. Many reported difficulties in loading their feeds, resulting in blank screens.

According to outage tracking portal Down Detector, the number of reports regarding the outage surged to over 25,000. Data from Down Detector indicated that 53% of users on the X app were unable to log into their accounts, while 16% of website users reported similar issues.

The cause of the outage was not immediately clear, and X did not respond to requests for comment. This incident marks the latest disruption affecting internet services.

In November of the previous year, thousands of users in India and around the world faced service interruptions on X, along with other websites reliant on Cloudflare’s internet infrastructure. Cloudflare confirmed awareness of the issue and stated that an investigation was ongoing, which could potentially affect numerous customers. The problem was later resolved.

In May of this year, the X platform also faced outages globally, preventing users from loading new posts and logging in. Down Detector reported that thousands of users encountered issues accessing X’s web pages, as well as problems with the app and login pages.

While 41% of users reported being unable to log in, an equal percentage faced issues within the X app, and 18% reported problems on the website. The company has yet to disclose the cause of this disruption, marking the second incident within 24 hours.

Following the outage, many users in India attempted to access the website but were unsuccessful. Down Detector noted that over 5,000 users worldwide complained of issues with the microblogging platform.
