PM Relief Scheme Cashless News IN Marathi: The central government has undertaken a major initiative to ensure timely treatment of those injured in road accidents. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the Prime Minister’s Relief Scheme. Under this scheme, those injured in road accidents will get cashless treatment up to a maximum of Rs 1.5 lakh for seven days. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, the scheme will apply to every eligible victim of any category of road accident in the country. This means that if an injured person meets with an accident on any national highway, state highway or rural road, he can avail this facility. Let’s understand who gets free treatment under Tapradhan Madat Yojana and what are its terms and conditions.
Accidents often turn fatal because the injured cannot reach the hospital on time or money is a priority. As a solution to this important problem, the central government has approved PM Rahat Yojana. The objective of the scheme is clear: to ensure that road accident victims receive timely, appropriate and appropriate treatment without worrying about money.
PM Rahat stands for Road Accident Victim Hospitalization and Assured Treatment Scheme. (PM RAHAT Scheme) Under this scheme, those injured in road accidents will get cashless treatment for seven days from the date of accident. The government will cover the medical expenses up to a maximum of ₹1.5 lakh. No rupee will be charged from the patient’s pocket.
Health statistics show that almost half of road accident deaths can be prevented if the injured are taken to hospital within the first hour. This period is known as Golden Age. Hospital admissions are often delayed due to confusion over money and payments. PM Rahat Yojana tries to solve this problem. The scheme also addresses another major problem: the reluctance of loved ones to help after an accident for fear of legal complications. PM Rahat refers to such helpers as “Rahweer” or “Good Samaritan”. This means that anyone helping the injured need not fear legal trouble. They will not have to face any legal complications or incur any expenses.
In the event of an accident, the victim, passerby or anyone present at the scene can call 112. This call will provide information about the nearest designated hospital and call for an ambulance. The entire system is linked to an emergency response support system, enabling police, ambulance and hospital to work in coordination.
This scheme will cover people injured in all types of road accidents. It can be any street in any city. If the injury is not severe, immobilization treatment will be given for up to 24 hours. If life threatening, this time will be extended to 48 hours. In both cases, full treatment up to 7 days will be covered. Police confirmation will be required through the digital platform within the stipulated time.
PM Rahat Yojana is based on two existing government digital systems. One system records complete accident details and the other handles treatment and payment. The first is the Electronic Detailed Accident Report (eDAR) operated by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) and the second is the Transaction Management System (TMS 2.0), which is under the National Health Authority. Both the systems aim to ensure that all information is transmitted in a single line as soon as an accident is reported.
Accident reporting, hospitalization, treatment, claims filing and hospitalization will all be done through this digital system, ensuring no delay in treatment and eliminating the need for frequent visits to offices. Hospitals will receive treatment funds from the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund. If the vehicle involved in the accident is insured, insurance companies will pay. In hit-and-run or uninsured cases, the central government will provide funds from the budget. The hospital is assured of payment within 10 days of claim approval. If any complaints arise regarding the scheme, they will be resolved under the District Road Safety Committee, which will be responsible for resolving these issues at the Collector or District Magistrate level. This will eliminate the need for people to go to different offices.
PM Rahat Yojana Transport, Health, Insurance and the police Brings the departments together. Its actual impact will depend on the number of hospitals that connect, the speed of 112 and whether treatment is delayed due to police confirmation. How this process is developed and implemented at the district level will be clear in the future, as well as the effectiveness of the scheme in saving lives in road accidents.
