New Delhi: As winter retreats and summer is ready to set in, several weather fluctuations are being seen in Delhi. The weather department has forecast light rains for Delhi on Wednesday, due to western disturbance in the region. However, rains might not be able to stop the rising temperatures in the national capital. Temperatures will continue to rise even after the showers.

Monday might see slight fog: Weather Department

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that on Sunday, the maximum temperature recorded in the capital was 28.5 degrees Celsius. This was 4.1 degrees above normal. While the minimum temperature was 11.1 degrees Celsius, which was 0.1 degrees above normal.

The humidity level in the air on Sunday dropped from 97 per cent to 34 per cent, said the weather department.

The IMD has predicted light fog for Monday morning in Delhi-NCR, reported Jagran.com.  The sky will however remain clear during the day. While the maximum temperature during the day is expected to be 28 degrees Celsius, the minimum will be 12 degrees Celsius, they added.

AQI remains poor in Delhi-NCR

Residents of Delhi-NCR however will continue to face poor air quality. Due to the slow speed of winds, the AQI has again dropped to the ‘poor’ category. Delhi’s AQI on Sunday was 216, which is the ‘poor’ category, said the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

As of now, the PM 2.5 levels in the air have nearly doubled. This is causing an adverse impact on the health of people. Low wind speed and stable weather conditions are aiding the spread of pollution and not improving the AQI in the capital.

Ghaziabad’s AQI was recorded at 313, which falls in the hazardous category, while Noida was a bit better at 264, falling still in the severe category.

People are advised by experts to wear masks and limit outdoor activities.
