New Delhi, 14 February. The effect of the strong winds that have been blowing in the National Capital Region (NCR) for the last few days is now clearly visible. There has been improvement in the Air Quality Index (AQI) and most of the areas have reached the Yellow (moderate) and Orange (poor) zones. This decline in pollution levels has brought a lot of relief to the people. According to the data received, AQI was recorded at 253 in Indirapuram of Ghaziabad, 267 in Loni, 192 in Sanjay Nagar and 250 in Vasundhara.
Whereas AQI was recorded 222 in Sector-125 of Noida, 177 in Sector-62, 192 in Sector-1 and 206 in Sector-116. Air quality in many areas of Delhi also remained in the Orange Zone. AQI was recorded at 235 in Alipore, 265 in Anand Vihar, 240 in Ashok Vihar, 244 in Bawana, 205 in Burari Crossing, 225 in Chandni Chowk, 203 at CRRI Mathura Road, 209 at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range and 207 in DTU. However, the AQI in Aya Nagar was 153, which falls in the yellow zone (moderate category).
Experts say that due to strong winds, pollutant particles are not able to stay in the atmosphere for long, due to which the AQI has improved. However, in many areas the index still remains around 200, which is not considered completely safe from health point of view. On the other hand, according to the Meteorological Department, a continuous increase in the maximum temperature is being recorded. On February 14, the maximum temperature was 27 degrees Celsius and minimum was 11 degrees, while on February 15, the maximum temperature was likely to be 27 degrees and the minimum was 13 degrees. On February 16, the maximum temperature is expected to be 28 degrees and the minimum will be 13 degrees Celsius.
These days, there is light mist in the morning and the humidity level has been recorded between 90 to 40 percent. At present no weather warning has been issued. Due to strong sunlight during the day, people have started feeling slight heat. Due to increase in temperature in the afternoon, the effect of cold seems to be reducing. Meteorologists say that the maximum mercury may increase further in the coming days, due to which the effect of heat will be felt more during the day.
