A fashion fan was gobsmacked when she found an outfit while browsing the racks in a charity shop priced at just £8.50, despite usually selling for thousands of pounds. Mum-of-two Emily Derrick regularly shares content on social media relating to her charity shop finds and her work reselling goods on Vinted.

Emily, known as thriftingwithem on TikTok, where she has more than 7,500 followers, recently visited the Mercy in Action shop in Saltford, between Bristol and Bath, and showed viewers what she found. Opening her video she said: "I can't believe what I found in this charity shop today. It's probably the best find I have ever had since starting re-selling."

Entering the shop, she said: "I absolutely love this charity shop, it's always full of great designer pieces." She showed viewers some of the items on offer, including a pair of Ugg boots priced at £15, and a blue, yellow, and red striped Barbour jumper, on sale for £7. "This Barbour jumper was really well priced, but I think that was because there were a few marks on it, which was a bit of a shame," she said.

Other items included a linen top from Monsoon, priced at £10, which Emily, from Bristol, said she "absolutely loved". "During the summer this would sell so quickly," she said.

She also spotted an Anthropolgie jumper which Emily said goes for more than £90 new, which was selling for £8. Picking up a light brown Marks and Spencer jumper on sale for £6.50, she said: "I would always recommend picking up Marks and Spencer items, especially their jumpers. This one in particular was an alpaca wool blend and these sell really well."

Displaying a light pink Modern Rarity zip-up top which was on sale for £15, former Sainsbury's worker Emily said: "I regret not picking this up." "I had to do a bit of research about this," she said. "It was only £15 and one sold on eBay recently for £75."

Other items included a green men's wax jacket from Barbour, on sale for £25, which Emily said is "10 per cent of the original value", and a black top with white specks from Harrods, which she described as "absolutely stunning".

The mum also spotted a pair of Peloton shoes, which she described as "an absolute bargain" at £15. A new pair will set you back £120.

But it was something else which Emily described as her "find of the year". Displaying the item to the camera, she said: "This was an Hermès two-piece set for £8.50, originally retailing for £2,900. I know it's an acquired taste, but I had to pick it up."

People were amazed by the discovery. One person said: "That is such an amazing find! What a great little shop." Another said: "I love this one too - always try and pop in on my way home from Bristol."

Someone else questioned: "Is that Hermès real though? The label looks a bit shabby." Emily replied: "Yeah it's real. It's 20 years old that's why."

Mercy in Action is a charity dedicated to fighting poverty and delivering food, education and shelter to children living on the streets in the Philippines. It also supports communities in the UK.
