In a historic moment for Indian Railways, Sarita Yolmo has made history by becoming the first woman Traveling Ticket Examiner (TTE) to be given Tour Duty on the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. This moment is a proud achievement not only for the historical railway line but also for the Northeast Frontier Railway zone.



Sarita Yolmo, who works under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), normally performs her duties at New Jalpaiguri (NJP). Although she has previously undertaken normal assignments, her latest posting to manage tour trains on the famous mountain railway line makes her stand out as a first of her kind. This makes her the first woman in the history of the zone to be given this prestigious assignment.







The railway authorities have termed the development as a progressive move that marks the shift in the new landscape of Indian Railways. The move is thus a part of the larger

efforts being made to ensure gender inclusion.
