Kolkata: Phones are constantly changing, gold jewellery will burn a hole in your pocket, clothes are passe. Move away from the beaten path and surprise your partner by gifting a multi-asset fund scheme this Valentine’s Day. These funds are not only the flavour of the season but also offers balanced and stable returns  in this volatile market. In Jan these funds have made a mark in the market by attracting a huge amount of investment by Indians. You can also offer your partner financial stability by gifting a lumpsum or the first instalment of an SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) this Feb 14.

How Indians have fallen for multi-asset funds

Multi-asset mutual funds witnessed a record Rs 10,485 crore in net inflows in January. AMFI data showed it made these funds among the most favoured in hybrid strategies in the month we left behind. As the equity market has turned volatile and uncertain, the focus has shifted to balance and diversification of portfolio.

What are multi asset funds?

Multi-asset allocation funds, or simply multi-asset funds are those that invest in more than one asset class, the name signals. Tee are typically equities, debt and commodities such as the precious metals gold and silver. This category of funds invest a minimum of 10% in at least three asset classes. The advantage: when equities turn volatile, the debt and commodities provide stability. While the debt offers stable income, the precious metals generate the returns to balance the net outcome — as is happening now in the market. Many investors swing towards these funds to stabilize the portfolio.
