Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh has made a big announcement in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. He says that driving licenses can soon be given to 16 year old teenagers in the state. He also said that there are preparations to make the rules of driving license stricter. Also, proper arrangements are being made to prevent road accidents in the state.

The minister said that automobile companies have stopped making 50 cc vehicles. Because of this, 16 year old teenagers do not get a license. But in today’s times electric bikes have arrived. After these bikes come in the market, issuing licenses to teenagers can be started. Under the new Motor Vehicles Act, children of 16 years of age will be able to get licenses for electric vehicles up to 1500 watts.

How will the license renewal be done?

Under the new rules of driving license, people above 60 years of age will have to provide a medical certificate. The license will be renewed on the basis of this certificate. Earlier, people above 40 years of age had to provide a medical certificate for renewal of their license.

The change in this rule will provide relief to a large number of people in the process of license renewal. Now new rules to driving test will be implemented for people above 75 years of age. According to these rules, driving test will become mandatory on completion of 75 years of age.

What did the Transport Minister say?

Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh said that ‘If parents give a car to children of 16 years of age, then they should also have a license. Now even though 50 cc vehicles are not being manufactured, electric vehicles have come in the market and children are driving them. In such a situation, arrangements will be made to issue driving licenses to those aged between 16 to 18 years.

He also said that ‘Driving license is made very easily here, this should not happen. Now only the right driver will get the driving license, which will prevent road accidents.
