On Friday, the Supreme Court of India granted bail to filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari Bhatt, giving a big relief. Both were in jail since December 7. He is accused of allegedly defrauding a businessman from Udaipur to the tune of crores of rupees by promising him huge profits.

Order to release both immediately

A bench of Chief Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi directed the Udaipur jail administration to release both of them immediately. Also, the Chief Judicial Magistrate was ordered to issue a formal bail order with terms and conditions. The Supreme Court has also issued notices to the complainant in the case, Indira IVF and Fertility Center founder Ajay Murdia, and the Rajasthan government to appear in the next hearing on February 19.

Bail petitions already rejected

It is noteworthy that earlier on January 31, Rajasthan High Court had rejected the bail petitions of Vikram Bhatt and his wife. The High Court had said that considering the current situation of the case, it would not be appropriate to give relief to the accused. After the complaint was registered, both of them were arrested from Mumbai on December 7 and brought to Udaipur.

What is the allegation against both of them?

In the case, Ajay Murdia has alleged that Vikram Bhatt and his wife lured him with huge profits to invest in film production. It is alleged that despite taking approximately Rs 30 crore, the amount was not utilized properly. Besides, additional money was also taken by issuing alleged fake bills in different names. It has also been said in the complaint that some part of the amount taken in the name of the film was deposited in the personal account of Vikram Bhatt. At present, both of them have definitely got relief after getting bail from the Supreme Court, but everyone’s eyes are fixed on the next hearing of the case.
