Lucknow, 12 February. On Thursday, the fourth day of the budget session in the Assembly and Legislative Council in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government had to face sharp questions from the opposition. There was a heated argument in the Assembly between Energy Minister AK Sharma and senior Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Shivpal Singh Yadav over power supply.
Industrial Minister could not answer questions regarding investment in UP
In the same House, when Industrial Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ got stuck in answering three questions asked by SP MLA Dr. Ragini Sonkar regarding investment in UP, Finance Minister Suresh intervened and rescued the Akar government from the embarrassment. In the Legislative Council, first there was a heated argument between the ruling party and SP MLAs over the poor law and order situation in the state and then the SP members walked out of the House.
Overall, during the Governor’s address in both the houses of the Legislature today, the opposition members fiercely surrounded the government regarding its claims, due to which there was a heated argument between the ruling party and the opposition in both the houses. It started in the Assembly with the claims of Energy Minister AK Sharma.
AK Sharma’s taunt – In SP government, electricity was available only in Saifai.
While highlighting the achievements of the Yogi government, AK Sharma said that during the SP government, electricity was available only in Saifai, but today in every city and village of UP, electricity is available for 24 hours and sometimes for 21 hours. He took a dig at SP by claiming that SP people laugh when they talk about law and order.
Shivpal’s allegation – UP government completely involved in corruption
Hearing such claims of the Energy Minister, SP leader Shivpal Singh Yadav said, ‘Work was done in the fields of electricity and roads in our government. We did not work to loot the public, you people bring a huge budget to loot the public, but are not able to spend that budget completely. UP government is completely involved in corruption.
Making this claim, Shivpal Yadav, referring to Chief Minister Yogi’s statement that Babri Masjid will never be built, said that BJP people have no work except making people fight among themselves. To end the tussle between Shivpal and AK Sharma, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahan called another member to speak on the Governor’s address.
Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ could not answer
Due to this effort of the Assembly Speaker, the House functioned normally for some time. That’s when SP MLA Dr. Ragini Sonkar asked three questions to Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’. His first question was that MOUs worth Rs 50 lakh crore were signed in UP, why only 9% investment was made on land?
The second question was why there is zero investment in Chitrakoot, Jhansi, Aligarh, Agra in the Defense Corridor of UP? Her third question was that BJP had Rs 800 crore in its account in 2014, now it has become Rs 16 thousand crore, this question is because the economy is breaking and money is increasing in your party. Ragni also asked many sharp questions regarding the law and order of the state.
When Industrial Minister Nand Gopal Gupta got up to answer his questions and started getting stuck in the middle, the Speaker interrupted him. On this the minister started telling about SP and finally the MLA started talking about Ragini’s Instagram and Facebook reels.
Sensing the difficulty the Minister was facing in answering the MLA’s questions, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna replied – You look at the data of NBRB, the incidents of crime have reduced in the state, we are all at the bottom in states like Telangana and Orissa. Ragini Sonkar was satisfied with this reply of the Finance Minister and other MLAs got a chance to speak on the Governor’s address in the House.
SP’s walkout from the Legislative Council
On the other hand, SP members in the Legislative Council surrounded the state government, accusing it of poor law and order in the state. Not only this, on the question of SP MLC Ashutosh Sinha regarding the health system of the state, Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak got angry and said that the hospital cannot be run just by constructing a building. During the SP government, there used to be loot by building hospital buildings, now this does not happen. Amidst such heated exchanges, SP MLAs created a ruckus in the House on the issue of law and order and walked out of the House.
