Lucknow. Yogi government has taken a big step to give new strength to the cooperative sector in the budget of the year 2026-27. The aim of the state government is to ensure timely availability of food grains and agricultural resources to the farmers. For this, the additional food grain storage system is being strengthened, so that there is no shortage at the time of need.
Under the world's largest grain storage scheme in the cooperative sector, warehouses will be constructed on a large scale in the state. Through this scheme, additional 2 lakh metric tonnes of food grain storage capacity will be developed.
A provision of Rs 25 crore has been made for this in the budget. It is proposed to construct warehouses with a capacity of 99,500 metric tons in 33 districts of the state through 24 PACS (Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies) and 17 other cooperative institutions. Locations are being identified for the remaining capacity.
To increase the income of farmers and empower them economically, a budget of Rs 38 crore has been proposed under the Chief Minister Krishak Samridhi Yojana. The objective of this scheme is to directly benefit the farmers and strengthen the agriculture sector.
Computerization scheme is being implemented to modernize Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS).
A provision of Rs 32 crore is proposed for this scheme. This will increase transparency and efficiency in cooperative societies.
To provide relief to the farmers, a provision of Rs 525 crore has been proposed under the interest subsidy scheme. With this, loans will be available to farmers at cheaper rates. Apart from this, a provision of Rs 150 crore has been kept for advance storage of chemical fertilizers, so that there is no shortage of fertilizer during the season and farmers can get the fertilizer on time.
