An all India bandh has been called on 12 February 2026, with the participation of several trade unions and farmer organizations. Due to this strike, banking services may be affected and there may be jam on the roads. Central trade unions and farmer organizations have announced this strike, due to which public sector banks, government offices, transport services and markets may be affected in many states. Some schools and colleges may also remain closed due to the impact of the protests, depending on local circumstances. Labor unions are protesting against the four labor codes implemented last year.
Unions say the government’s new labor codes are weakening workers’ rights, leading to reduced job security. Additionally, it has been made easier for employers to hire and fire employees. Trade unions have also expressed concerns about privatization, wages and social security. Their main demands include repeal of all four labor codes as well as withdrawal of other bills.
No official announcement has been made regarding the closure of schools and colleges across the country. However, in some states like Kerala, Karnataka and Odisha, educational institutions may remain closed with the support of local organizations. Students and parents are advised to check the official notices released from their respective institutions.
Branches of public sector banks are likely to be affected due to the strike. All India Bank Employees Association and other major unions have urged employees to participate in the strike. State Bank of India has also warned of possible service disruption. However, the Reserve Bank of India has not declared this day as a bank holiday, so branches may remain open.
Public transport services may be affected in some areas due to protests and road blockages. Markets and shops are likely to remain closed. Attendance at government offices may also reduce, depending on the participation of employees. However, emergency services such as hospitals and ambulances will function normally.
