Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA Ragini Sonkar has termed the budget presented in the UP Assembly as baseless. Speaking to IANS in Lucknow, Ragini Sonkar said that this was being discussed yesterday also and exercises were also done. The budget should be such that even the person standing in the last row can take advantage of it. But, the budget that has been presented is completely baseless.

The SP MLA said that even though the size may be big, it is a sham budget like the Union Budget. No significant benefits are visible in the agriculture sector. It is difficult for our poor to get the benefits from the criteria set in the promise made for marriage of poor families. Our daughters have not yet received a scooter.

This time too there has been talk of giving a scooter. I had raised the problem of Shiksha Mitras and cooks earlier also. Last year there was talk of cashless facility, big advertisements were taken out, but this time too the same old thing has been repeated. There is no scheme in this budget that will provide real benefit to any person.

The SP MLA said that even though there has been an increase in the budget for medical care, the reality is that nowadays people are struggling with the problem of kidney failure every day and there was no talk of increasing dialysis beds. Cancer patients are continuously increasing, but there is no concrete system to improve the condition of chemotherapy centers or to appoint super specialty doctors at the district level.

Super specialty facilities are not available in emergency. All the promises of education that are being made are limited to papers. Today government schools are closing and it is becoming difficult to provide quality education to poor children. This budget is a budget to show to other countries and foreign investors, this budget is proving to be meaningless for the public.

Samajwadi Party MLA Kamal Akhtar said on the budget that huge budget has always come. The previous one was also heavy and this one is even heavier. There is only one thing common in every budget. This time the government has brought a budget of Rs 9 lakh crore, but within this budget the government has not kept anything for farmers, youth and people of PDA. This is a budget that will disappoint them.

Kamal Akhtar said that as far as giving Rs 1 lakh to women is concerned, you tell me whether they are Hindu, Muslim or anyone else in UP, they hide their poverty. The mass marriage scheme made by the government has been made to insult the people.

In today’s time, everyone wants that their daughter’s in-laws should not know that their daughter is getting married with grant money. The government gathers the people of Janpath, the band comes, the MLA comes there. In a way, it is a scheme to raise the prestige of the poor man.

Officials also make monkeys. If the government wants to help, then after conducting a thorough investigation, money should be transferred to the family’s account, so that the poor families can benefit from that money and also save their respect in the society.
