With changing lifestyles, weak eyesight has become increasingly common. Considering how much time we spend staring at television, laptops, and mobile screens, this isn’t surprising at all.
Weak eyesight usually appears as short-sightedness (myopia) or far-sightedness (hyperopia). It can develop due to several factors, including genetics, ageing, prolonged eye strain, and poor nutrition.
If you experience blurred vision, watery eyes, or frequent headaches, it may indicate weakened eyesight. When ignored, these symptoms can gradually lead to more serious conditions such as cataracts or further deterioration of vision.
In Ayurveda, weak eyesight is referred to as Drishti Dosha. According to Ayurvedic principles, an imbalance of the Pitta dosha is often responsible for vision-related problems.
While modern treatments like laser surgery, contact lenses, or glasses are available, many people prefer natural approaches. Ayurvedic herbs and remedies are often recommended to support and strengthen eye health. Below are some commonly suggested herbs and their traditional uses.
# Triphala
Triphala is a well-known Ayurvedic formulation made from three fruits. It is widely used to balance the three doshas and is considered beneficial for various ailments, including eye-related disorders.
How to use:
Soak one tablespoon of Triphala in water overnight. Strain the water in the morning and use it to gently wash your eyes. Regular use is believed to help support better vision.
# Amla
Amla (Indian gooseberry) is rich in vitamin C and is highly valued in Ayurveda for supporting eye health. Including amla in your daily diet may help strengthen eyesight.
How to use:
Drink fresh amla juice daily or consume one tablespoon of dried amla powder regularly.
# Carrot
