Besides the cricket highlights from the T20 World Cup, a viral heartwarming footage of Nepalese fans has stormed social media with joy and emotions.
Even after a four-run defeat against the defending champion England on February 8, the “Rhinos” transformed the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai into an iconic view of red and blue colours, appreciating the performance that left the cricket legends in awe.
In the high-voltage clash, Nepal was chasing a target of 185. The last over batting by Lokesh Bam, who scored 39 off 20, left the team with 10 runs in the final over. However, they made it to 180/6 and lost the game by a slight difference of 4 runs.
Despite facing such a narrow defeat, the team’s spirit and fans’ reaction earned global admiration.
Harry Brook, England captain, expressed a sigh of relief and appreciated the opponents, saying, “Hats off to the Nepalese team, they played extremely well. I didn’t think it would go as close as that.”
The image of the fans grooving to the traditional music garnered millions of views. The cricket legend Dale Steyn posted on his social media handle, “Nepal, I offer my services to you if you ever need em! Up, up and UP!”
