Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the state government is working with commitment for the economic progress of the farmers and fishermen of the state. He said that Madhya Pradesh is among the leading states of the country in agricultural production. Now the aim is to double the fish production in the coming years and the state should get a new identity in this field.
The Chief Minister clearly said that the government is completely dedicated to the welfare of fishermen. Along with fish farming, aquaculture activities will also be promoted. Such a strong eco system will be created so that fishermen can get better income and permanent economic empowerment. He gave these instructions to the officers in the review meeting of the Fishermen Welfare and Fisheries Development Department held in the Ministry.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the state government is celebrating this year as Farmer Welfare Year. In this sequence, a detailed action plan should be prepared to make Madhya Pradesh the number-1 state of the country in the field of fisheries. He directed that fishermen who do excellent work should be honored and encouraged by organizing fishermen's conferences. Also, special attention should be paid to increasing seed production so that fish production can be accelerated. Instructions were also given to make a concrete strategy for better and systematic use of the Fisheries Federation operating in the state.
The Chief Minister said that in the districts where ground water level is low, fish production can be increased through the farm pond model. For this, a district should be developed as a model. Along with fish farming, water chestnut, Kamal Gatta, Makhana and other aquaculture based activities should also be encouraged in this model district. This will provide additional income opportunities to farmers and fishermen.
In the review meeting, officials informed that work is being done on Madhya Pradesh Cage Culture Policy to increase fish production in the state. Under this, 10 thousand cages will be prepared under beneficiary based scheme and 90 thousand cages will be prepared under entrepreneur model. Detailed information about the ongoing works under the Chief Minister Fishermen Prosperity Scheme was also given. A presentation was also given about the special project 'Integrated Aqua Park and Research Centre' proposed in Bhopal. The Chief Minister gave instructions to prepare an action plan for setting up fish houses at the divisional level.
The progress of departmental plans for the financial years 2024-25 and 2025-26 was reviewed in the meeting. The status of Kisan Credit Card, Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, Chief Minister Machhua Samriddhi Yojana and special projects approved by the Government of India were discussed. Apart from this, the progress of Cage Culture (Indira Sagar Reservoir), Technology Diffusion Centre, Reservoir Cluster Based Fisheries and Integrated Fish House and Research Center was also evaluated. Minister of State for Fishermen Welfare and Fisheries Development (Independent Charge) Shri Narayan Singh Panwar, Chief Secretary Shri Anurag Jain, Additional Chief Secretary (Chief Minister's Office) Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Additional Chief Secretary Shri Ashok Baranwal and departmental officers were present in the meeting.
