After the alleged suicide of three minor sisters in Ghaziabad, the debate regarding digital addiction and ban on social media for children has intensified across the country. Many people are demanding a social media ban for children under 16 years of age. Meanwhile, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has openly opposed this thinking.

Expressed your views in the post ‘BAN THE BANNERS’

Ram Gopal Varma shared a long note on social media, titled “BAN THE BANNERS”. He wrote that banning social media in the name of saving children is not the right solution. There will be less benefits and more disadvantages due to this.

Told social media as a great means of learning

Ram Gopal Verma says that in today’s era, social media is not just a means of entertainment. It has become the fastest medium for learning, skill development and connecting with the world. YouTube, Reddit, TikTok and online forums teach children coding, languages, business, science and current affairs quickly.

He said that in countries where there is no restriction on children on social media, the children there progress more. At an early age, they learn to understand information, build online networks and work on new ideas. Children of banning countries are deprived of this digital advantage.

‘Ban will not end the dangers’

Ram Gopal Varma agreed that the concern about online content is justified. But he says that a complete ban is not the solution. This will not eliminate the risks, but will instead leave children less prepared for the real world.

He warned that banning social media will create a generation that will be left behind in the digital race. Lack of information will affect education, career and thinking in the long run.

What is the matter of Ghaziabad?

According to police, three minor sisters allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the ninth floor of a building in Ghaziabad. It has been told that the father had snatched the mobile phones. She feared that the children had become overly obsessed with Korean culture.
