Mumbai: Bollywood producer and director Ahmed Khan, in an interview with News9, addressed the ordeal faced by actor and comedian Rajpal Yadav. Yadav surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5 after a Delhi court ordered his custody in a cheque bounce case.
Reacting to the incident, Khan stated, “He has always made people laugh. The judiciary knows best in this matter. As a human being, I’ve always had a great time with that person. He’s a great human being.” He went on to say that the industry will come together to support him during this tough time.
“The film industry has always stood up for each other. There should be some support, and there will be. All of this happened all of a sudden. When you get such news, you’re shaken because we’re fellow mates. It takes some time to come to the realisation of what exactly has happened. As the industry, we will stand by him and do the best we can,” said Khan.
Moments before surrendering to the police, according to News X, Yadav stated, “Sir, kya karoon? Mere paas paise nahin hain. Aur koi upaay nahin dikhta… Sir, yahan hum sab akele hain. There are no friends. I have to deal with this crisis on my own.”
Meanwhile, actor Sonu Sood publicly extended support to the comedian. Taking to X, he wrote, “Rajpal Yadav is a gifted actor who has given years of unforgettable work to our industry. Sometimes life turns unfair, not because of talent, but because timing can be brutal.” The actor then went on to offer work to the comedian.
“A small signing amount, adjustable against future work, is not charity, it’s dignity. When one of our own is going through a tough phase, the industry must remind him he’s not alone. This is how we show we are more than just an industry,” said Sood.
