Netflix – Actor Barun Sobti believes that while the entertainment industry has transformed rapidly due to digital growth and changing social media trends, his approach to choosing work has remained steady. As he prepares for the second season of the acclaimed crime thriller Kohrra, the actor says his faith in strong storytelling continues to guide his career decisions.

Over the years, streaming platforms and social media algorithms have reshaped how actors connect with audiences. Yet Sobti maintains that his professional outlook has not shifted with these trends. According to him, quality scripts have always been his priority.
He explained that early in his career, opportunities with compelling narratives were limited. However, he now finds himself in a phase where well-written projects are coming his way. For Sobti, digital chatter and online reactions are secondary. He prefers to concentrate on the substance of a project rather than its social media buzz.
When asked about longevity in the entertainment business, Sobti stressed the importance of continuous personal growth. He noted that staying relevant requires constant self-reflection and a clear understanding of one’s strengths.
Instead of comparing himself to peers or chasing trends, the actor believes performers should focus on identifying roles that suit them best. In his view, blindly following what others are doing can dilute an actor’s individuality. He emphasised that meaningful work stems from clarity about one’s capabilities and purpose.
Sobti will soon be seen reprising his role in the second season of Kohrra, which begins streaming on February 11 on Netflix. The new chapter introduces fresh faces while continuing the show’s dark and layered storytelling style.
Kohrra returns with Sobti stepping back into the role of Amarpal Garundi, a perceptive investigator navigating a complex murder case. This season, he is joined by Mona Singh and Rannvijay Singha, adding new dynamics to the unfolding narrative.
The storyline centers on the mysterious death of a woman, unfolding against the bleak winter landscape of Punjab. The series continues its focus on emotional depth and procedural realism, blending personal struggles with investigative drama.
The crime drama is created by Sudip Sharma, Gunjit Chopra, and Diggi Sisodia, with direction by Randeep Jha. The first season featured actors such as Suvinder Vicky, Harleen Sethi, Saurav Khurana, Rachel Shelley, and Manish Chaudhary in prominent roles.
Season two is produced by Film Squad Productions in association with Act Three. Producers include Saurabh Malhotra, Sudip Sharma, Manuj Mittra, and Tina Tharwani. The makers have indicated that the upcoming season represents a creative progression, introducing a new investigative pairing while maintaining the atmospheric tone that defined the debut installment.
Kohrra earned attention for its slow-burn narrative and exploration of grief, family tensions, and moral dilemmas within a police procedural framework. Set against Punjab’s stark winter backdrop, the series often relies on silence and subtle performances to convey emotional weight.
With the second season, viewers can expect another layered crime story intertwined with personal conflicts. For Sobti, the return marks not just another project but a continuation of his belief that well-crafted scripts remain the strongest foundation for sustained success in the evolving streaming era.
