Dal Bati is a traditional dish of Rajasthan. Baati is prepared in different ways in Rajasthan. In winter when fresh green fenugreek is abundant in the market, a special methi masala bati is made there. The taste of these batis is so amazing that once you eat it, you want to make it again. If you have guests at home or want to make something different and special, Methi Masala Bati is the perfect choice. This dish is not only tasty but also very beneficial in terms of health. So let’s have a quick look at the easy and delicious methi masala bowl. Recipe.


Material



  • Wheat flour – 1 cup

  • Gram flour – 5 tbsp

  • Fresh green fenugreek seeds (finely chopped) – 5 tbsp

  • Red Chilli – 1 tsp

  • Coriander powder – 1 tsp

  • Turmeric – 1 tsp

  • Salt – as per taste

  • Ova – ½ tsp

  • Asafoetida – a pinch

  • Baking Soda / Salt Soda – ½ tsp

  • Crushed ginger-garlic – 1 tsp

  • Coriander (finely chopped) – 2 tbsp

  • Oil or Ghee – 2–3 tbsp

  • Warm water

  • Desi Ghee

  • First take 1 cup of wheat flour in a large bowl. Add 5 tablespoons of gram flour and 5 tablespoons of finely chopped fenugreek seeds. Now add 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp coriander powder, 1 tsp turmeric, salt to taste, some oava and a pinch of hing.

  • Add half a teaspoon of baking soda and add finely chopped coriander, crushed ginger and garlic. Mix all the ingredients well.

  • Now add fresh, finely chopped fenugreek seeds to the mixture. Rub all the ingredients using oil or ghee for moyana.

  • Then add warm water little by little and knead soft dough. Make medium sized balls of this dough and make round balls. Press gently into the center of each jar.

  • Heat a tandoor or thick tawa on gas and roast the bati in it on low flame. Fry the batters until nicely golden and crispy on all sides. You can also fry these batis in oil or ghee as desired.

  • Dip the prepared hot baati in desi ghee and serve.

  • Methi Masala Bati tastes very nutty, crunchy and spicy. In Rajasthan these batis are usually eaten with curry or dal. Breakfast, lunch or dinner any time this dish tastes good.
