One of the most captivating and exciting K-dramas of 2025, Dear X is a dark melo-thriller about the dark side of successful fame told through the troubled and ambitious actress, Baek Ah-jin (played by Kim You-jung). The intense psychological twists in the plot along with shocking betrayals and an emotional cliffhanger finale have kept fans and viewers engaged and entertained while they eagerly anticipate Season 2 of “Dear X”. Having finished airing on TVING at the end of December 2025, the upcoming Seacon 2 will further delve into unexplored plotlines revolving around revenge, new character relationships, and a deeper analysis of Baek Ah-jin’s manipulative world. This will follow on from the divisive yet entertaining highs of Season 1.
As of February 2026, Dear X has no confirmed second season renewal.
Currently, there have been no announcements of a renewal, cancellation, or development update in reference to a second season from either the show’s original broadcaster, TVIN, or from the show’s production team. The original broadcast of the 12-episode run of Dear X aired between November 6th and December 4th, 2025, and ended without any confirmation of a future continuation.
Any online claims about Season 2 currently being “in production” with an estimated release window, though popularized through social media postings by passionate fans, are not substantiated through any verified sources, nor do we have verified timelines of production that would allow for a rational discussion of future release dates.
As such, if a renewal is announced at some point in the future, the earliest production could be completed for Season 2 would occur in either late 2026 or 2027, based on standard production cycles for K-drama programming, thus making speculation about future releases purely hypothetical at this time.
As yet, there have been no confirmations regarding the cast for the second season of this series.
If a second season is greenlit, we can expect:
– Kim You-jung will reprise her role as Baek Ah-jin because she is key to the show’s plot, and her character’s fate was left unresolved.
– Depending on how the story will evolve, supporting cast members like Kim Young-dae, Kim Do-hoo,n and Lee Yul-eum may also return.
Please note that because of the large number of principal characters who died in Season One’s finale, many roles will not be able to continue unless through flashbacks or through other creative means. No details to the aforementioned contracts, negotiations, or scheduling have been reported.
Season 2 does not have an official plot point yet. The conclusion to Season 1 was left open, as many questions remained unanswered.
The original webtoon’s source material has more than what is shown in the adaptation, but the way the drama is adapted varies from the original story, making Season 2 hard to predict or directly continue from. If there is a Season 2, the script would not be strictly connected to the source material.
The ending leaves enough space for a potential Season 2, but that does not mean that it will happen for sure. All of the discussions about the story remain highly speculative until TVING makes an official statement.
