A law student shot his classmate dead inside a classroom at Mai Bhago Law College in Tarn Taran, Punjab, before attempting suicide on February 9.

First, the accused, identified as 20-year-old Prince Raj of Mallian village, entered the classroom just before lectures began. He pulled out a pistol and shot Sandeep Kaur, 19, in the head. She collapsed instantly and died on the spot. Immediately after, Raj turned the gun on himself.

Next, panic gripped the campus as students fled the classroom. Faculty members alerted police, who rushed to the scene. Officers recovered CCTV footage that captured the shocking act. Raj was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and remains under medical supervision.

Meanwhile, Tarn Taran SSP Surendra Lamba stated that investigators are examining the mobile phones of both students to understand their relationship. He noted that a “friendship angle” appears to be the primary lead in the probe.

Additionally, the victim’s mother, Harjinder Kaur, raised serious questions about campus security. She asked how a student managed to carry a pistol into the classroom and demanded accountability from the college administration.
