Everyone knows holiday costs soar during the summer months as companies ramp up their prices for the school break, but you don't need to fork out a fortune for a sunny getaway. To prove this, a British expat has revealed exactly what it's like to take a holiday in Tenerifeduring February, when temperatures typically range between 19°C and 22°C in the daytime, and 14°C to 17°C overnight.
In a video, the expat, known as @tenerifefirstexcursions on social media, can be seen strolling around the Spanish resort in brilliant sunshine, enjoying the "stunning" 24°C conditions. He said: "There's no wind. There is a little bit of a swell in the sea, but on the coast, it's absolutely stunning weather. Blue skies, palm trees, and everything else in between.
"Beautiful stuff. If you're coming to Tenerife, you've come at the right time. If you're coming soon, you're going to have a great time."
In the comments section, holidaymakers expressed their enthusiasm about the weather, with one person saying: "I'll be there in two weeks, can't wait."
Another user added: "We are coming on Thursday - 10 of us for a 50th birthday celebration."
A third, who is already soaking up their break, added: "It's so hot, I got burnt today."
While one more exclaimed: "We're coming next Friday for the first time... can't wait to see the sun shining again."
In Tenerife, temperatures begin at an average of 20°C in January and February before warming up by approximately one degree each month until June.
During July, the mercury climbs to 27°C before peaking at approximately 28°C in August and dropping back to 27°C in September.
Towards the year's end, visitors can anticipate a gradual decline from 25°C to 23°C, until it settles at roughly 20°C once more in December.
According to Holidays Extra, the optimal period to visit Tenerife is March, April and May, alongside October and November later in the year.
A statement explains: "If you are willing to take your holiday outside of the summer season, you will be able to save money. The cheapest months include March, April and May (excluding the Easter period), October and November.
"The temperature in Tenerife rarely dips below 18°C in these months, so sightseeing, hiking and other activities are all still possible - and there will be fewer people on the beaches.
"The busiest times to holiday in Tenerife are July, August and Easter - essentially, the weeks that coincide with the school holidays."
It added: "Holidaymakers may choose to travel to Tenerife during the summer months to enjoy the island's vibrant nightlife and extensive itinerary of beach parties and music festivals.
"February is especially popular with partygoers, as this is when Tenerife hosts the world's second-largest carnival - after Rio de Janeiro's - every year. Christmas and New Year's Eve are also busy in Tenerife, as holidaymakers enjoy the seasonal festivities.
"Therefore, unfortunately, those looking to make the most of the nightlife and parties Tenerife has to offer are likely to spend more than those in search of a quieter sojourn."
