Vietnam Airlines plans to launch the country’s first direct flight to the Netherlands in June with a flight between Hanoi and Amsterdam.

It plans to operate three flights a week starting June 16 using the wide-body Airbus A350, it said in a statement.

Vietnam Airlines has secured operating slots at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the main international airport in the Netherlands and a major European gateway, despite its consistently constrained capacity.

The Netherlands is Vietnam’s largest trading partner in Europe. In 2025 exports from Vietnam to the Dutch market exceeded US$11 billion.

Investments by Dutch enterprises in Vietnam are worth around $16 billion. Around 27,000 Vietnamese people live and work in the Netherlands, creating steady travel demand.

Two-way passenger traffic between Vietnam and the Netherlands numbers 122,000 a year.

The new service will also add options for cargo transport, especially for high-value exports to Europe.

With its launch, Vietnam Airlines will operate 12 direct routes to Europe, linking up with eight cities.
