Accident – A high-end sports car crash in Kanpur has left at least six people injured, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

High-Speed Collision on VIP Road

The accident took place on Sunday afternoon along VIP Road in the Gwaltoli area, one of the city’s prominent localities. According to police officials, the collision occurred near Rev-3 Mall at around 3:15 pm when a Lamborghini reportedly lost control and rammed into pedestrians and vehicles lined along the roadside.

The impact created panic in the busy stretch, with bystanders scrambling for safety as the vehicle veered off course. Authorities said the car first struck an autorickshaw before smashing into a parked motorcycle.

Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes, claiming the motorcycle rider was hurled several feet into the air after the collision. The luxury vehicle then mounted the motorcycle’s front portion and dragged it a short distance before finally crashing into an electric pole, which brought it to a halt.

Police Register Case, Probe Underway

An FIR has been lodged against an unidentified individual in connection with the incident. Atul Kumar Srivastava, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), confirmed that no arrests have been made so far.

He stated that investigators are examining all aspects of the case, including the events leading up to the crash. When asked whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time, the officer said clarity would emerge once the investigation and necessary tests are completed.

The damaged Lamborghini has been seized and moved to the police station for further examination.

Allegations Involving Businessman’s Son

Police sources indicated that the car was allegedly being driven by Shivam Mishra, son of businessman K K Mishra. The latter is associated with Banshidhar Exports Pvt. Ltd., a company known for supplying tobacco products to regional gutkha manufacturers.

Authorities have not officially confirmed the identity of the driver in the FIR, maintaining that the case currently names an unknown person as part of standard legal procedure during preliminary investigation.

Injuries and Medical Treatment

Among those injured was Taufiq, a resident of Yamunaganj, who reportedly suffered severe leg injuries after being thrown several metres from the point of impact. Police said other victims sustained fractures and multiple bruises.

All injured individuals were transported to a nearby private hospital for treatment shortly after the crash. Medical officials have not released detailed updates on their condition, but none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening at this stage.

Tension at the Scene

The accident sparked anger among local residents, many of whom gathered at the site and surrounded the vehicle. Witnesses alleged that private security personnel accompanying the driver attempted to disperse the crowd and behaved aggressively, heightening tensions.

Police teams arrived promptly, managing the situation and escorting the driver from the scene to ensure his safety. Officers also facilitated medical assistance for those hurt in the crash.

Later, at the police station, some victims and residents alleged inappropriate conduct by individuals linked to the accused. A few claimed that attempts were being made to influence the process or encourage a settlement, allegations that police have neither confirmed nor endorsed.

One of the injured, Sonu Tripathi, told reporters that he and his cousin were standing near their motorcycle when the speeding car struck them. He said his cousin fell to the ground, while two others were flung onto the footpath due to the force of the collision. Tripathi confirmed that a formal complaint has been submitted.

As the investigation continues, authorities have assured that all legal procedures will be followed and that accountability will be determined based on evidence gathered during the probe.
