Faridabad. Inspector Jagdish Prasad, on duty, died tragically in the incident of swing breaking at Surajkund fair on Saturday evening. Haryana DGP Ajay Singhal expressed deep grief over the accident and prayed for the peace of the late inspector’s soul. He also went to the hospital and saw the condition of the injured and encouraged them.


DGP Ajay Singhal said that Inspector Jagdish will be given martyr status for his extraordinary courage, devotion to duty and human sensitivity in the line of duty. A compensation of Rs 1 crore will be provided to his family and a government job to one member of the family.


According to the family, Jagdish Prasad was originally a resident of village Degar in Mathura district of UP. He became a constable in Haryana Police in 1989 and was scheduled to retire on March 31, 2026. In November 2025, he was made in-charge of Chandhat police station. His promptness and bravery led to the saving of many lives, exemplifying the highest traditions of the police service.


DGP Ajay Singhal personally met the people injured in the accident in the hospital and discussed in detail the progress of treatment with the doctors. He instructed the officials that there should be no negligence in the treatment of the injured and they should be provided with the best medical facilities.


DGP said that this accident is extremely tragic, but the administration and police department are fully committed to providing all possible help to the injured. He said that the contribution and dedication of Inspector Jagdish Prasad will always remain an inspiration and his demise is an irreparable loss for the police department.
