The central government has spent a little more than 40 percent of the budget amount on 53 schemes in the three quarters of the current financial year. The estimated budget (BE) of these schemes was more than Rs 5 lakh crore. However, it was reduced to Rs 3.8 lakh crore in the Revised Estimate (RE). This was 74.4 percent of the budget allocation.
