News India Live, Digital Desk: If you have Aadhaar card, then this news can blow your senses. Indian government agency UIDAI has taken the biggest action so far to crack down on fraud and duplicate data. According to the recent data, the authority has deactivated/cancel about 2.5 crore Aadhaar cards across the country. If you have not updated your Aadhaar for a long time or any information in it is suspicious, then your card can also be included in this list. Why did UIDAI take this strict step? The main reason behind the cancellation of Aadhaar card is ‘Cleaning Process’. UIDAI has given several important reasons behind this: Duplicate Aadhaar Card: In many cases it was seen that more than one Aadhaar card was issued in the name of the same person. Such ‘duplicate’ cards have been blocked during biometric matching. Fake Documents: The investigation found that lakhs of people had used false or fake documents to get Aadhaar made. These cards were declared invalid when they were caught during the verification process. System errors and suspicious data: There were some cards in which biometric data or demographic information was not fed correctly, creating a security risk. Is your Aadhaar card active? How to check whether your Aadhaar card is still working or has been cancelled, you can check it online sitting at home: First of all go to the official website of UIDAI myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in. Click on the option of ‘Check Aadhaar Validity’. Enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number and captcha code. If ‘Aadhaar Exists’ appears on the screen, then your card is safe. If any error is seen, you have to immediately go to the Aadhaar center. What will be the harm if the card is cancelled? If your Aadhaar is cancelled, you will not be able to avail the benefits of government schemes (like ration card, PM Kisan Yojana). Apart from this, your bank account may get frozen and tax problems may also arise if Aadhaar linked to PAN card is deactivated. Caution! Don’t miss the free update deadline. UIDAI has provided the facility to old Aadhaar card holders (those who have had the card for more than 10 years) to update the documents for free. You can protect your Aadhaar from being canceled by keeping your identity and address proof updated.
