New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday expressed his gratitude to the President of Sri Lanka, Shri Anura Kumara Dissanayake for inaugurating the exhibition of the sacred Devanmori relics at the Gangaramaya Temple in Colombo. This information was given in a government release here.
It said the Prime Minister also reminded that during his visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025, it was decided that these sacred remains would be brought to Sri Lanka, giving an opportunity to the people to pay homage.
Modi said India and Sri Lanka are bound by deep civilizational and spiritual ties strengthened by centuries of shared heritage and cultural exchange. He also said that the arrival of the sacred Devanmori relic from India to Sri Lanka is a testament to the unbreakable spiritual bond between the two countries.
The Prime Minister expressed hope that Lord Buddha’s eternal message of compassion, peace and harmony will continue to guide humanity and promote unity and understanding across borders.
