February is here, which means spring is edging closer. Our favourite high street shops are fully embracing this with new collections dropping featuring garments in a range of pastel colours.

One colour we’re seeing creeping back in is yellow, which had a real moment in 2025, with fashion influencers, publications and celebrities going wild for it. And 2026 is no different, with one of our favourites, Marks and Spencer, bringing out a gorgeous new belted coat in a lemon shade that is perfect for the transitional weather.

TheBrushed Belted Collared Short Coat with Wool, £65, comes in a soft yellow hue and has a shorter body than your typical winter coat. Made with a brushed texture that adds serious style and interest, it has been crafted from polyester and wool, ensuring ample warmth when the temperatures are a little chilly.

Perfect for layering, it’s cut to a regular fit - meaning it’s likely to fit a light jumper underneath just about. It has a self-tie belt fastening, which is lovely for cinching in the waist to create a flattering silhouette, despite being layered up to the max.

A lovely thing about this coat is that its design is a little unique, as its button fastening is slightly off-centre and buttons up on one side, giving an asymmetrical style. Coming in sizes eight to 24, the coat is a great way to brighten up any outfit and would work with jeans and trainers on a casual day, or a slinky silk skirt and heels for something a little more upmarket.

One thing shoppers have noted is that it's leaning towards a clotted cream hue rather than bright yellow, which some have loved. Although it may be a disappointment for those looking for this pastel shade. It's also worth noting this jacket is dry-clean only, which may be a negative for anyone who prefers items that can be washed at home.

For those who want more of a definitive yellow, ASOS’ crop collarless quilted jacket in lemonis currently on sale for £38.25 and looks to be a little more vibrant. It’s not made of wool, is collarless, and is quilted, which adds a level of warmth.

For those who want a long line design, New Look’s Light Yellow Open Front Longline Coat is also on sale for £23.99 down from £39.99. It has a revere collar style opening and midi length.

Although it has only recently launched, the M&S Brushed Belted Collared Short Coat with Wool has received five-star reviews so far. One reads: “I love this coat. It is a beautiful colour, not quite cream and not full on yellow.

"You can button up to the collar or use it as in the photo as a wrap-around coat. I bought size 16 (my normal size), and it is perfect with room under for a long sleeve tee and cashmere weight jumper or cardigan.”

Someone else added: “Just what I was looking for! I ordered in the hope that this would be more of a cream colour than lemon and I wasn’t disappointed. It only looks lemon if you look very closely, otherwise it's more like clotted cream.

"It’s a classic style, a nice length and the button up collar can be worn up or down. Reasonably priced. Pleased with purchase.”
