Heart diseases are increasing rapidly all over the world and the most worrying thing is that now even young people are falling prey to heart attacks. Bad lifestyle, increasing habit of junk food and lack of physical activity are considered to be the biggest reasons for this. Problems like obesity, fatty liver, high blood pressure and diabetes directly harm heart health. But the relief is that an easy and effective way to keep the heart healthy is present in our kitchen itself. According to a recent research, if a special breakfast diet is adopted for just two days, then bad cholesterol (LDL) can be reduced rapidly.

What did the new research reveal?

Researchers at the University of Bonn in Germany conducted a study on 32 men and women, all of whom had metabolic syndrome. The study found that eating oatmeal for just 48 hours reduced bad cholesterol (LDL) by approximately 10%. What's surprising is that the effects of this two-day diet persisted for six weeks, even after participants had returned to their normal diets.

What is metabolic syndrome?

Metabolic syndrome is a serious health condition that increases the risk of many diseases, such as being overweight or obese, high blood pressure,
high blood sugar, and high bad cholesterol. These factors increase the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and stroke.

How was the oatmeal diet prescribed?

During the research, people were divided into two groups.

The first group of oatmeal dieters were given only oatmeal (boiled oats in water)
three times a day for two days. They were allowed to add a small amount of fruit or vegetables. About 300 grams of oats daily was given as calorie intake, almost half of the normal diet.

The second group of oatmeal dieters
were given reduced calories but were not allowed eating oats. Both groups benefited, but the effect was much stronger in the oatmeal group.

These big benefits were seen in 48 hours

  • Reduction in bad cholesterol (LDL) by about 10%

  • Weight loss of 2 kg on average

  • Slight drop in blood pressure

  • According to doctors, this method is not as powerful as medicines, but is completely safe and natural.

How do oats work in the body?

Research has also shown that eating oatmeal increases the growth of good gut bacteria.
These bacteria digest oats and produce compounds that control cholesterol, reduce insulin resistance, and lower the risk of diabetes. This is why oats are considered beneficial for both heart and metabolic health.

Know when you get more benefits?

According to the study, eating small amounts of oats daily did not have the same effect as consuming larger amounts over a short period of time.
Researchers say that if people adopt an oatmeal diet for two days every six weeks, cholesterol can be controlled, the risk of diabetes can be reduced, and the risk of heart attack can be reduced.

Before resorting to expensive treatments, small but appropriate dietary changes can prove extremely effective in maintaining a healthy heart. Even just two days of an oatmeal diet can provide significant health benefits.
