You must have heard this word Gen-Z. This word is becoming very viral everywhere in social media. The recent Gen-G Protest in Nepal is a living proof of this. What was found in the research?


Dr. Jared Cooney Horvath has presented a report to the US Senate Committee, which states that Gen-G, who were born between 1997-2010, have a much lower IQ level than their parents. This is a historical record because this has never happened since 1800. Gen-Z’s IQ, focus, memory, reading, maths, problem-solving skills are much lower than the previous generation.


The neuroscientist said that according to the report, this is the Flynn Effect i.e. it is going to be reversed. In this, instead of increasing the IQ level decreases.







What is the reason for this?


Neuroscientists have attributed the increasing technology and its use as the reason behind the weak brains of children. He said that now children are spending more time on phone screens than they used to spend in books. Just reading bullet points while scrolling on the computer is not the right education system. He said that the use of technology is only to help us. The human mind is made to understand faster and more than that. In such a situation, if instead of ideas from books, we insert short video clips into our mind, then IQ will go down. This will not lead to development.


Wrong education system adopted in schools also!


Experts say that now even in schools, videos and screens are being used for studies. Earlier, school teachers and students used to sit face to face and talk, think and find solutions to their problems. But now all this work is being done on screen. They say that screens are disrupting the biological processes of our brain, reducing comprehension, memory and concentration. Using Apps is giving them information but does not develop their mind.


How will these problems be resolved?


The neuroscientist said that now this problem is not limited to America only. Children from about 80 countries of the world are struggling with this problem. Cognitive problems have increased in children due to excessive digital use. Therefore, its use in schools will have to be limited. Minimal device usage by students will also help. There is a need to go back to the old education systems. Don’t be in a hurry to give phones to very young children.
