On Tuesday, the second day of the budget session of Bihar Assembly, state Finance Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav presented the budget for 2026-27. In his budget speech, the Finance Minister said that the total size of this budget, based on the theme of ‘Prosperous Bihar, Prosperous Bihar’, has been kept at Rs 3.47 lakh crore.

The budget for the financial year 2025-26 was Rs 3.17 lakh crore. In the budget presented by the Finance Minister, special emphasis has been laid on development, employment, women empowerment and strengthening the rural economy.

In the first budget presented by the new government in Bihar, he has made a provision of Rs 50 crore for the industrial sector to accelerate industrial development in the state. With this amount, there is a plan to encourage new industries, attract investment and create employment opportunities for the youth.

He also proposed in the budget to expand the Haat-Bazaar Development Scheme to increase business activities in rural areas. Farmers, small traders and local products will directly benefit from the strengthening of Haat-Bazaar. Praising Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the Finance Minister said that the state government is working under the resolve of the Chief Minister to have faith, knowledge, respect, science and aspiration.

Claiming that the economic growth rate of Bihar is continuously increasing, he said that it is expected to reach 14.9 percent in the coming year. Discussing the seven determination schemes, he said in his budget speech that the goal of making Bihar a developed state has been set through seven determinations.

So far, work has been done for the empowerment and development of one crore 56 lakh women. The budget also includes pledges for five new expressways and affordable housing.

He said that women will be led towards education, respect and self-reliance. Special provisions have been made in the budget for programs to women development in the coming year. The Finance Minister said that the aim of the government is to make Bihar a developed state.
