On Monday, Maithili Thakur, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), expressed her dedication to addressing issues pertinent to her constituency during the ongoing budget session of the Bihar Assembly. This initiative follows a briefing aimed at newly elected legislators. Speaking to a news outlet, Thakur highlighted the governor's remarks on Bihar's development over recent years, contrasting its past with its current improvements. She mentioned that she still possesses a copy of the governor's speech, which includes statistics regarding Bihar's present condition.

Understanding Legislative Procedures

Thakur further elaborated that the day's proceedings were thoroughly explained, emphasizing the necessity for all members to be present every working day. This guidance was particularly aimed at first-time legislators who received specific instructions. She noted her commitment to raising questions daily, as members are required to submit inquiries fourteen days in advance. Thakur reiterated her intention to bring forth all issues affecting her constituency.

Call for Justice in NET Candidate's Death

In light of the recent death of a candidate from the National Eligibility Test (NET), Thakur demanded swift justice, asserting that the victim deserves timely resolution. She acknowledged the active involvement of the Home Minister in this matter. Meanwhile, members of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) staged protests in Parliament, raising various concerns related to Bihar, including the demand for special category status, law and order issues, and the recent death of the NET candidate.

RJD's Response to Budget Session

During the protests, RJD MP Meera Bharti stated that the party decided to highlight Bihar's pressing issues during the current budget session, as the central budget failed to address the state's long-standing demands. She pointed out that numerous issues remain unresolved for the people of Bihar. With the budget session underway, the party felt it was crucial to raise these significant concerns, particularly the demand for special status for Bihar. Bharti emphasized that the budget did not allocate any resources for Bihar, and they are also advocating for action regarding the law and order situation and the death of the NET candidate.
