Telangana: No matter how old one grows up or how far one travels, if one is not aware of one's roots, many questions and confusions haunt one's mind at every step. 'Who am I? How was I born? What would my mother look like?' These questions keep troubling that child. Similarly, a child has come to India with his adopted parents from 7000 kilometers away in search of his roots.
Yes, Adilabad in Telangana became witness to a similar discovery. A Danish couple, Louise and Rasmus, travel thousands of kilometers to find the mother of their adopted son Arjun (now Danish) in a village in Adilabad district. This Danish couple went to Chiltiguda, Tekidiguda, Chorgaon, Sungapur and other nearby tribal villages in Adilabad to trace their son's real biological mother.
But people feel a different joy on seeing foreigners, so wherever they went, people welcomed them with shawls and musical instruments. The child Arjun, adopted by this foreign couple, was abandoned by his parents at RIMS Hospital in Adilabad in 2016. His fingers were not well, so perhaps his parents left him in the hospital out of helplessness and fear. The authorities later sent the child to an orphanage. Subsequently, through India's legal adoption process, Louise and Rasmus of Denmark adopted Arjun when he was two years old. Since then the child has been growing up in the love and care of his adoptive parents in Denmark.
But as Arjun grew up, he started asking his adopted parents, 'Who is my mother?' Perhaps due to the vast difference in skin color between the parents and the child, the child might have suspected that he was not their real son. When the child repeatedly started asking about his real parents, the adoptive parents told him about adoption. After this the boy expressed to his adoptive parents several times his desire to meet his real mother once. Hearing this sentiment from the child, Lewis and Rasmus thought they could not ignore it and came to India to trace his roots.
The couple has started their search with the help of a voluntary organization called 'Adopt Right Council', which has reunited many children adopted by foreigners with their families. Regarding this, the council's director, lawyer Anjali Pawar, said, 'Its purpose is not to take Arjun away from his adoptive parents. He will stay with them only. Its purpose is only to tell him where he came from. This may save that boy from growing up with emotional pain in his heart.
This couple will stay in Adilabad for a week and meet the villagers and collect information. He has assured that he will keep all the information private and respectful. Lewis and Rasmus have said that if Arjun's mother is found, they will help them financially and keep in touch with the family. They want to build a bridge of trust and love between two worlds. At present, the search is going on.
