Oral Health: While everyone pays attention to toothaches or swelling, tooth decay acts like a silent killer. You don't realize when a cavity is slowly forming inside seemingly healthy teeth, and by the time you do, the decay has already taken hold. Tooth decay causes unbearable pain and gradually infects all the teeth; therefore, taking care of your teeth is very important.

Causes of Tooth Decay

The process of tooth decay is very slow, and its symptoms are not always noticeable. It's often only after the pain starts that you realize you have tooth decay. There can be many reasons for tooth decay, such as consuming too much sugar, not brushing and rinsing properly, reduced saliva production, calcium and vitamin D deficiency, and going to sleep without brushing your teeth at night. All these factors are sufficient to cause tooth decay.

Ways to Prevent Tooth Decay

Cloves
Ayurveda suggests several home remedies to prevent tooth decay and strengthen gums, which can be easily done at home. The first is using clove oil. Clove oil helps reduce tooth pain and bacteria, thereby slowing down the decay process. For this, apply clove oil to your teeth for some time at night and then rinse with water.

Neem
The second is using neem twigs for brushing or rinsing. Neem is a natural antibacterial agent that helps reduce bacterial infections in the teeth. Neem twigs are also beneficial for dental health. The third is oil pulling with coconut oil. Oil pulling cleans dirt from every corner of the teeth and removes yellowing. For this, swish the oil in your mouth for 5 minutes and then rinse.

Salt and Mustard Oil
The fourth remedy is a mixture of salt and mustard oil. This mixture provides relief from toothaches and also kills bacteria that thrive in the mouth. Applying this mixture three times a week can also reduce the yellowing of the teeth. In addition to these remedies, dietary changes are also necessary.

What to Eat
Include calcium and vitamin D in your diet. Calcium and vitamin D together strengthen teeth and reduce bleeding gums. Vitamin C is also essential for healthy teeth; therefore, be sure to consume a citrus fruit at least once a day. This is also beneficial for dental health.
