Budget 2026: Nirmala Sitharaman mentioned content creators and even comic books as focus areas for the economy in her Union Budget 2026 speech on Sunday. Sitharaman announced Content Creator Labs in 15,000 schools and 500 colleges. Content creation will be promoted and many new setups will be installed for this. He said that Content Creator Labs will be opened in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges across India in collaboration with Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Creative Technologies.

He also announced plans to set up another National Institute of Design.


Sitharaman said, “India’s Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (AVCG) industry is growing rapidly and is estimated to require 20 lakh professionals by 2030. I propose to support the Mumbai-based Indian Institute of Creative Technology in setting up AVCG Content Creator Labs in 15,000 secondary schools and 500 colleges across the country.”

He further said, “The Indian design industry is expanding rapidly, yet there is a dearth of Indian designers.” “I propose to establish a new National Institute of Design to promote design education and development,” she said.

ABGC Content Creator Labs: The government has decided to create special Content Creator Labs for Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming and Comics (ABGC). Its objective is to promote new creators and provide them modern facilities.
