This is great news for young people preparing for government jobs. The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has released an official notification for recruitment to Group D (Level-1) posts. Through this recruitment, a total of 21,997 posts will be filled across different railway zones in the country. The application process started on January 31, 2026. Interested and eligible candidates can apply online by visiting the official railway website.

This railway recruitment is a special opportunity for young people who want to get a government job with minimal educational qualifications. The last date to apply is March 2, 2026.  Candidates who need to pay the application fee have been given additional time until March 4, 2026.  Therefore, candidates are advised to fill out the form well in advance without waiting until the last date.

Who can apply?

The best thing about this recruitment is that the eligibility criteria are very simple. If you have passed the 10th class from a recognized board, you can apply for these posts. In addition, candidates who have a National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) issued by NCVT can also participate in this recruitment. This means a large number of young people can take advantage of this opportunity.

What is the age limit?

The candidate's age should be at least 18 years and a maximum of 33 years as of January 1, 2026. However, according to government rules, reserved categories such as OBC, SC, and ST candidates will be given relaxation in the upper age limit. This may provide relief to candidates who are older than the specified age limit.

How much is the application fee?

For the Railway Group D recruitment, General and OBC category candidates will have to pay an application fee of Rs. 500. For SC, ST, women, and transgender candidates, the fee is Rs. 250. One of the unique features of this recruitment is that a significant portion of the application fee will be refunded when candidates appear for the Computer-Based Test (CBT). General and OBC candidates will receive a refund of Rs. 400, while SC, ST, and other category candidates will receive a full refund of Rs. 250. Therefore, it is crucial to provide accurate bank account details when applying.

How the Selection Process Works

The selection process for the Railway Group D recruitment will be completed in several stages. First, candidates will have to take a Computer-Based Test (CBT). This will be an online written examination, and candidates who pass will be selected for the next stage.
After this, the selected candidates will be called for a Physical Efficiency Test (PET). This will assess their physical fitness. Candidates who successfully complete the physical test will have their documents verified. Finally, there will be a medical test to assess the candidate's health. The final selection will be made only after passing all the stages.

Things to Keep in Mind While Applying

Before filling out the online form, make sure you have scanned copies of your passport-size photograph and signature. Enter your name and date of birth exactly as they appear on your 10th-grade mark sheet. Any discrepancies may cause problems later.
