Telangana :- A government primary school in Khammam district looked like a hospital when dozens of children suddenly fell ill after eating the mid-day meal. This incident that took place on Thursday in this school located in Bodiya Tanda of Konijerla Mandal exposed the administrative negligence.

It is being told that the carelessly prepared lunch proved poisonous for about 32 innocent children. Shortly after eating the food, the children started complaining of vomiting, diarrhea and severe stomach pain. Seeing the worsening of the situation, all the children were immediately admitted to the government hospital in Khammam.

What did the local people tell?
According to the villagers and parents present at the spot, mid-day meal was served regularly in the school, but the condition of the children started deteriorating shortly after the meal. One after another the children started vomiting and suffering from stomach pain. After this, with the help of teachers and local people, all the affected students were immediately rushed to the district hospital.

According to doctors, the condition of all the children is now stable and is said to be out of danger. Preparations are being made to discharge him soon after first aid. However, this incident has raised serious questions on the quality and safety of food in schools.

This is not the first time that negligence regarding mid-day meals in schools in the tribal areas of Telangana has come to light. Complaints have been received in the past regarding lack of cleanliness and quality of ingredients during food preparation in many schools of Tanda areas. The latest incident has once again raised questions on those systems which claim to provide safe and nutritious food to children.
